Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actress in Canada and New Zealand for over a decade. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's father, was first seen on stage as Flora McGrath. For this role she received the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. The actress is second youngest recipient in Oscar the history of Oscars. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born July 24th 1982 at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was an Canadian birthed New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won her the Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the talkative and inquisitive girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the prize. After an audition, Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the child of a mute Scottish musician who moved to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. Paquin was in a brief role in the film's title role when she was a child on Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) as well as an important role in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the 1996 television film adaptation Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin was also in the role of the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 movie Amistad. She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) as well as A Walk on the Moon (2000). The actress played the role of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
