Rauw Alejandro
Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It became the most streaming music of that in just six months. It combines reggaeton with pop that was not just a new ear to reggaeton but also increased interest in Latin music. In 2015, there were only two predominantly Spanish-language tracks on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. At the peak of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017 19 songs mostly made in Spanish hit the top 100. The number grew to 41 by 2020. After Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, a number of popular artists began to collaborate together with reggaeton singers. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated on MIA (2018), while Madonna and Maluma collaborated on Medellin in the year 2019. By 2020 a few reggaeton performers were lamenting their genre's shift towards the mainstream but a new generation such as Rauw Alejandro, aimed to maintain the pace of evolution in reggaeton. The genre often incorporated elements of other genres and electronic dance.
